We’ll take a scenic 30-minute train ride to the northern mountains, followed by a walk through Kibune and a forest hike up to Kurama Temple, ending with a pleasant downhill stroll to Kurama Village.

Bring snacks or grab a sandwich at the bakery near the meeting point—there aren’t many food options on the trail. The first 30 minutes is a stair-heavy climb, so be ready for a bit of a workout!

After the hike, you’ll have the option to visit the local onsen (hot spring), just a short walk from the village. It’s gender-separated and bathing is done without swimwear. Bring a towel and change of clothes (or rent one there). The guide doesn’t usually join but can give you helpful tips and walk you to the entrance. If you’d rather skip it, the lounge has drinks, snacks, and comfy massage chairs.
