Let us take you on a special course designed to give you not only a lot of opportunities to see the beauty of the "sakura" blossoms, but also in a way that you get a mix of the highlights as well as some lesser known but equally beautiful (and less crowded) places.

Early Bird Cherry Blossom Walking tour 6 am to 10 am
Keage InclineOn the early bird tour, we really can beat the crowd. We will take you to the most famous places to see the cherry blossoms before most people have even had their breakfast! We start by meeting up at the Higashiyama Subway station and from there we wind along beautiful canals to Keage Incline. Considered one of the best places for photos of the blossoms and a real delight to see in the soft light of the morning.

Nanzenji TempleThen we head towards an amazing zen complex at Nanzenji temple. After spending some time here and seeing one of Japan's only aqueducts (which is still in use) at the most important zen temple in Kyoto. Truly a stunning site.

Philosopher's PathWe then head towards the Philosopher's Path. This is probably the most famous place to see the cherry blossoms in all of Japan so it's extra special to get here before the tour buses start to unload.

Ginkakuji TempleThen we visit one of the most beautiful zen gardens in Japan at the Ginkakuji Temple, also known as the "silver" pavilion. This is a real gem and a spectacular example of Japanese zen garden design. After exploring the garden we conclude the tour and can then give you tips on what to do for the rest of the day. Or head back to your hotel for a little rest and meet us later that day for our afternoon tour too!

Afternoon Cherry Blossom Walking tour 2 pm to 5 pm
Miyagawacho Geisha DistrictsNot everyone is an early bird, and that is why this year we have decided to add an afternoon route that takes us to some of the special cityscapes in Kyoto that are better seen in the vibrancy of the daytime. We start in the quiet streets of one of the largest geisha districts in Kyoto at Miyagawacho. Here we can teach you a bit about the lives of the geisha and that unique world of art and grace.

Kenninji TempleAfter that we take you to one of our favorite zen temples in Kyoto at Kenninji Temple. We explore inside and explain all about the gardens and art on display. Take your shoes off and slide along the wooden floors and see the beauty of a sand garden, moss garden and amazing ceiling painting of twin dragons.

Higashiyama DistrictFrom there it is on to the Higashiyama district and here we can walk through the cobble stoned preserved streets. One of the highlights here being the Yasaka Pagoda as well as the beautiful streets of Ninenzaka and Nene-no-dori. Take a stroll through time on these lovely streets.

Maruyama Park & Yasaka ShrineAfter exploring this beautiful corner of Kyoto, we make our way towards the Yasaka shrine where a cherry blossom festival takes place at the adjacent Maruyama Park. We conclude the tour here giving you a chance to join in on the fun with the locals. You could even grab a drink and a snack and wait for the nightfall to see the illuminated blossoms too!
